CMA Ontario – Secondary School “Make !t Happen Program” $5,000 School Proposal Contest Winners
The Secondary School $5,000 School Proposal Contest winners have been awarded for 2010. Two teams have been selected for their originality and creativity of ideas; the adherence to the accounting, management and strategy guidelines provided for the contest; and their ability to convince the judges they will be able to implement their proposal successfully.
The two winning schools, who will each be awarded $5,000 to implement their proposals, this year are:
- Loretto Abbey Catholic Secondary School – proposal for curtain/drape replacement for an auditorium where assemblies are regularly held;

The students present proposals reflective of school need, with letters of support from the school principal. We ask students “How would you spend $5,000 at your school to make school life better?” Schools with winning teams are awarded $5,000 to implement their proposals, allowing students on winning teams to leave a legacy to their school. Some of the other ideas presented were:
- an environmental ‘living wall’ for a new school currently under construction;
- a facelift of the artwork on walls within the school for 100th anniversary celebrations;
- an outdoor digital sign / message board to improve school communication;
- a broadcast room and monitors to produce a daily international news broadcast to the students;
- a selection of portable fitness equipment to allow more students to participate in physical education programs within the school;
- new desks for a classroom
- a school store, ‘tuck shop’, to provide one central location for selling school clothing, event tickets, etc.
Congratulations!
